Students, staff and Fellows at Downing College are being asked for their views on launching Meat-free Mondays in the Hall. A survey has been circulated by Jed Soleiman, Green Officer for the JCR to assess support for the initiative which will deliver a number of benefits including exploring more vegetarian/vegan food options, reducing emissions and raising environmental awareness.

A recent article in The Guardian highlighted the fact that the average British carnivore eats more than 11,000 animals in their lifetime, each requiring vast amounts of land, fuel and water to reach the plate.
