Civil Ceremonies
Downing College holds a civil marriage licence for up to 160 guests. There is a choice of two venues, the classical Howard Building which offers a first floor setting for the ceremony of up to 160 and a ground floor reception lounge opening up onto the sunken garden of Howard Court, which is ideal for the drinks reception and photos following the ceremony. Alternatively you may prefer the intimacy of the West Lodge rooms, which are perfect for smaller ceremonies of up to 50 guests.
Once you have a preferred date for your wedding we can hold a provisional booking for two weeks to allow you to contact the registrars at Cambridgeshire County Council to confirm availability.
